Confessions and secret boxes

Thursday, March 28, 2013

This is our guest room closet.
It houses our coats and my shoes. And a secret box.

The box doesn't come out often, but when it does it is only to slip something in it. Then it goes quickly back to its home in the top of the closet to be forgot about until it is needed again.
We kept this box a secret because we knew people would think us crazy for the contents of it.
What is inside this box is totally [TOTALLY] unneeded at this present time in our lives and won't be for quite some time.
But then we realized, what is in this box reveals a God given calling and desire. So why hide it?

So, ya really wanna know what is in the box, right?
Well, it's baby stuff.
All kinds.
And really adorable I might add.

It is stuff we have collected from many places. Places we have traveled, garage sales, hand-me-downs, clearance racks...you get the idea. We have just been slowly collecting.
We have sworn that the collection will not grow any larger than this box though.
That is until a Smith baby is a reality, WHICH WILL BE A GOOD WHILE.
If you're on Team "Baby Can Wait", don't let this post freak you out.
If you're on Team "OMG Baby Right Now", don't let this post get your hopes up.

The latest addition to The Baby Box is this guy!
IN LOVE.

His name is Socks the Fox. He is a BlaBla doll.
If you follow my Pinterest or know me well, you probably have picked up on my obsession with BlaBla Kids.
I had no prior intention of making this guy a member of The Box until we stumbled upon him in an adorable shop while in Savannah.
Story time:
Matthew and I were perusing The Paris Market [which I fell in love with the moment I walked trough the door].
We found ourselves in the children's corner.
He said, "Look, they have those stupid dolls you like." [Nice, right?]
I said, "Ohhhhh myyyy goshhhhh. Do they have Socks the Fox?!"
We proceeded to dig through three barrels of BlaBla dolls.
Nothing.
I proceeded to throw my head back in a whiney "nooooo."
AND THERE HE WAS.
Perched on a shelf, where he deserved to be [not in a barrel].
I snatched him.
I gave Matthew the pathetical "please" eyes.
He smiled that real cute smile.
We proceeded to discuss the adorable story we could tell our future child about the finding of Socks in Savannah.
Then Socks came home with us.

Adorable right?
Bet ya won't judge us for our secret box now.
